This is a page turner.... just couldn't put it down! If you liked Tuesdays with Morrie, you will love this! The author made me feel like I was part of Wanda's "epic" journey as she transitioned for the life hereafter. Her story reminds us of the importance of family, love, charity, and dignity, while not holding back on adventure with lots of belly aching laughter sprinkled in the mix. Truly a joyful, inspirational read!

Inspiring and heart warming and almost guaranteed to change the way you look at end of life

20 to 30 years ago cancer was such a taboo that people were embarrassed to talk about it - and anybody who has had it will know that far too many people are still terrified to discuss this disease. Even rarer are people who are willing to read about and talk about the ultimate taboo - DEATH. I've read may books about cancer experience but very few focus on end of life issues in such a positive and heart-warming way as Lorna Brunelle's new book 'The Buoy Projects'.
It takes a very close personal relationship for anybody to tell the story of somebody that they love and Lorna's closeness to her mother, Wanda, enabled them both to be extremely open in the last months of Wanda's life. If you're feeling scared to read a book about death, reluctant to expose yourself to something 'upsetting' then please be reassured that this book will almost certainly leave you with a big smile on your face.
You don't have to know Lorna or Wanda, to have cancer or even to have a close friend or relative with cancer to enjoy this life-affirming look at making the most of what time you have before life's most unavoidable certainty - death. This is an extraordinary story of a very ordinary woman who transformed the lives of everybody around her.

The Buoy Project by Lorna J. Brunelle is a gift and treasure that I did not want to put down once I started reading it. Through a mutual friend I became a friend of the author and her mother through Facebook. With such dignity and meaning I like many others felt honored as Lorna, Wanda and Team Wanda shared so personally the last days and weeks of a very courageous woman's life. That's when I met Wanda. With my own mothers passing last year as I sat at her bedside and just before her last breath said the very words that Lorna and the Team had expressed to Wanda, they truly inspired me. It was so powerful to see how Wanda faced death was such life and how her family reflected that back to her. This book is so very inspiring, highly creative and a must read for everyone. For it is a story of life, joy and death, something we all share and can experience with such vitality, grace and courage like Wanda shows us. This book is a blessing to all who read it.
